Meet Our Cabinet Members


Dr. Conway A. Jeffress, PresidentDr. Conway A. Jeffress, President

Dr. Conway Jeffress has been the President of Schoolcraft College since July of 2001.  During his tenure as president, Schoolcraft has grown in physical size and enrollment.  Jeffress has overseen the development of several new buildings and programs, including the Bradner Library, VisTaTech Center, Biomedical Technology building and the recent purchase of the former American Community Mutual Insurance building at the corner of Seven Mile and Haggerty Roads. Jeffress has been with the College for the majority of his career and also has served as the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services.

Glenn Cerny has spent nearly his entire career in higher education in the business services area. Before coming to Schoolcraft College in 2010, Cerny had worked for North Central Michigan College, Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Lansing Community College and the University of Michigan. Cerny and his team are responsible for Schoolcraft College’s $75 million budget.

Cheryl Hagen has been Associate Dean of Enrollment Management, Dean of Student Services and Vice President of Student Services during her 12 year tenure at Schoolcraft College. She spent the majority of her career in similar positions at Central Michigan University and Cleary University.


Richard Weinkauf, Vice President of InstructionRichard Weinkauf, Vice President of Instruction

Rich Weinkauf came to Schoolcraft College from private industry in 2005.  Over the years Weinkauf has worn many hats at Schoolcraft, including a chef’s hat as a sous chef and culinary instructor. Most of Weinkauf’s career was spent in the pharmaceutical industry for Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis, which became Pfizer in 2000. While in the business world, he held clinical positions as well as information technology and web services jobs.

Laura SensingLaura Sensing, Executive Director of Human Resources

Laura Sensing joined Schoolcraft College in 2010 after more than 20 years in human resources administration in the healthcare with the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeast Michigan and the financial field at H&R Block. She has specific expertise in employee recruitment and selection, compensation administration, labor relations and benefits.

Jim Ryan has spent the past six years at Schoolcraft College leading the culinary arts department, VisTaTech conference center and fund raising department. He came to the College from the K-12 world where he was a superintendent for 17 years working for the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, Waverly Community Schools and Reed City Area Public Schools in northern Michigan.
