If you have strong morals, self-discipline, and a commitment to public safety, one of Schoolcraft’s two criminal justice associate in applied science degrees can help you prepare for quick advancement in the field. The first degree is geared toward working professionals looking to enhance their onthe- job training with specialized criminal justice courses and classwork in communications, computing, health, and human relations. This degree will help you develop the skills needed to investigate human behaviors and take the appropriate measures to ensure the safety of society.
The second degree is aimed at students aspiring to law enforcement careers and who want police academy experience, in addition to the academic credentials. After completing the academy, you will be eligible to take the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Certification Exam, which is a prerequisite for employment in this state. Students pursuing a career as a law enforcement officer should review “Employment Standards for Michigan Law Enforcement Officers” at www.michigan.gov/mcoles prior to beginning this area of study, to ensure that they meet certain psychological and physical requirements.
