Beginning March 21st the Office of Financial Aid will be processing student’s financial aid eligibility for the spring 2013 term. Pell students who have used their grant in full will be awarded campus based grant funds, if eligible. Please keep in mind that there is a limited amount of campus based funding available for the spring 2013 semester. The Office of Financial Aid will continue to award students for the spring 2013 semester until all remaining funds have been exhausted.
Types of Spring Aid Available
- Pell Grant – Available if you have not used your entire 2012-2013 Pell grant eligibility in the previous terms.
- Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) – limited funds and will be awarded to students who have exhausted their Pell grant eligibility. SEOG funds will be awarded on a first come, first served basis until funds run out.
- Loans – If you have not used your entire 2012-2013 loan eligibility in the previous terms. In order to be awarded a loan, please submit the Spring 2013 Loan Request Form. Loans require a minimum of 6 credits of enrollment in the spring term. Requesting Spring Financial Aid
Current Schoolcraft Students
For current Schoolcraft students who have a processed 2012-2013 FAFSA and have already been awarded, all you need to do is send the Office of Financial Aid an email, on or after March 20, 2013 (sending an email before the date will not be processed), and include;
- Student ID Number or Social Security Number
- The number of credits you plan on attending during the spring term
(Remember, 10+ credits requires counselor approval)

Students on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Probation or Warning Winter term
For students who are on SAP Probation or Warning during the winter term, your financial aid eligibility for the spring 2013 term cannot be determined until your winter term grades post. If you were granted SAP Probation and met the terms of your probation (completed ALL courses with a minimum 2.0, no withdrawals, or incompletes), your SAP Probation can be extended to the spring term. If you were granted SAP Warning and are now meeting SAP standards (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and minimum completion rate of 67%), you will be eligible for financial aid. In either case, your financial aid eligibility for spring 13 will depend on the amount of Pell grant you received during the previous academic terms during 2012-13 and what aid we still have remaining to award.
If a student on SAP Probation or Warning would like to register for spring courses before their winter grades post and their financial aid eligibility is determined they must come into the office to see if they qualify for a SAP Payment Postponement Form. The SAP Payment Postponement Form will allow the student to register spring and not be dropped for non-payment. Once your winter grades post we will evaluate your eligibility for aid.
- If you continue to be eligible for financial aid, we will award the aid you are eligible for and remove the hold.
- If you become ineligible for financial aid, we will remove the hold and you will be dropped from your courses.
Only student’s whose Pell grant eligibility is sufficient to pay tuition/fee charges may be eligible for a Payment Postponement Form. If you believe you may qualify for a payment hold, you will need to come into the Office of Financial Aid and fill out the Payment Postponement Form. Payment Postponement Forms’ cannot be faxed or emailed and must be completed in person in our office. Not all payment hold requests will be granted and they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
New/Transfer Students to Schoolcraft
For new/transfer students to Schoolcraft for the spring 2013 term, you will be starting the process from the beginning so you will need to make sure that you;
- Have been accepted into the college
- We have a valid 2012-2013 FAFSA on file
- Any additional financial aid documentation has been submitted (i.e. verification information)
You cannot be awarded for spring 2013 until you have completed all of the steps outlined above. Your spring award notice can be viewed on WebAdvisor. New/Transfer students should not have to email our office regarding their spring enrollment plans since you will be awarded through the steps outlined above.
For All Students Please Note: Issues that may affect your eligibility for financial aid for the spring 2013 term include maintaining satisfactory academic progress and attending other schools during the 2012-13 academic year. Check with the Office of Financial Aid for your eligibility.
Registration for spring 2013 begins on March 30th.
