M-CAM LogoThe Michigan Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing (M-CAM) brings together the state of Michigan, Schoolcraft College and seven other community colleges, employers, workforce development agencies, and other community partners to create education and training programs that lead to employment in advanced manufacturing. 

Goal: Training of 2,738 individuals, targeting training for students studying manufacturing, displaced workers, incumbent (current) workers who need to upgrade their skills, and veterans

This grant was awarded through the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Career Training Grant (TAACCCT), allowing M-CAM colleges to directly respond to employer needs by preparing individuals for jobs in high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, specifically:

Services for Schoolcraft College M-CAM Students and Program Participants

In addition to training provided by highly qualified instructors, Schoolcraft College students and participants in the M-CAM grant will receive “wrap-around” services provided by the college, MichiganWorks! and participating employers to assist them with career readiness, workplace skills, technical skills, and job searching.

  • Resume Building
  • Job Interview Training

Employer Participation

Employers review program content and offer curriculum development input to ensure the programs meet their hiring needs.  Employers also offer internships, on-the-job training, interviews, and provide participants with opportunities for employment.

Benefits of the M-CAM Partnership

Upgrades to Schoolcraft College and seven other partner colleges’ manufacturing technology programs to current employer standards. Presidents of M-CAM participating colleges have committed to enter into an articulation agreement that establishes transferability of credit among all eight participating community colleges.
