Students who work closely with a counselor or academic advisor for educational planning are more likely to succeed in college and achieve their educational goals. Students can either schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor by calling the office at (734) 462-4429 or they can meet with an academic advisor on a walk-in basis during the posted office hours.

The counseling center runs the Student Orientation programs for new students, which are designed to provide essential information and help ease the transition to college. There are usually several half-day orientations during the spring and summer and condensed versions before classes begin. All entering students must attend one of these sessions before registering for classes. Register for an orientation session by calling the office at (734) 462-4429.

Counselors and academic advisors can assist students with transfer information. Transfer guides and other transfer tools are available online at www.schoolcraft.edu/transfer. Counselors and academic advisors meet regularly with senior colleges and universities to establish and maintain transfer agreements that will assist students in making a seamless transition to the senior institutions.

For students who aren’t sure about their career path, the counseling staff offers a two-credit career development class, HDS110, Career Decision Making on a regular basis.
