Campuses can be big and scary, and Schoolcraft is no exception. We’re big on culinary arts at Schoolcraft, so the best thing to do is break the campus down into bite size pieces. It’s more manageable that way.

Navigate the system

All student services are located in the McDowell Center on the Livonia campus, so it’s easy to get the hang of where you need to go for different things. In one visit you’ll see that it’s not really a ‘system’ at all; it’s a lot of helpful people who want you to have a good experience at Schoolcraft.

Conquer the classroom

Remember that several separate skills sets contribute to your academic success. They include note-taking, studying and test-taking, and each can be improved if you focus and follow the advice of helpful faculty and staff. Add some tutoring from a professional or a peer student tutor, and you are on your way.

Find the money

There are many sources of financial aid available beyond federal grants and loans. They include Schoolcraft-funded scholarships and grants and on-campus employment to name just two. The Office of Financial Aid can show you all of your options.

From start (COLLS classes) to finish (e-portfolio)

Collegiate skills courses carry the prefix COLLS and offer students on opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed at the college level. Once students are on their way to a successful Schoolcraft experience, they can capture what they’ve learned in a personalized e-portfolio that can be used to impress college recruiters and potential employers.
