Pianist James Tocco is in concert April 23

On Friday, April 23, 2010 Schoolcraft College will host its final concert in the annual Friday Evening Concert Series. Internationally renowned pianist James Tocco will perform at 8 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center. Tickets are $20 per person, $10 for students and can be purchased at www.scboxoffice.com.

Tocco enjoys a worldwide career as a performer, orchestral soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He has been praised for his interpretations of Beethove, Chopin and Liszt, as well as 20th-century composers. He is Eminent Scholar and Artist-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music; a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music; and professor of piano at the Musickhochschule in Lubeck, Germany. He has been the artristic director of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival since its founding.

Tocco will be performing "Toccata, Op.7," by Schumann; "24 Preludes, Op. 28," by Chopin; "3 INtermezzi, Op. 117," by Brahms and Samuel Barber's "Piano Sonata, Op. 26."
