Schoolcraft College International Institute

Experience Cross-Cultural Learning

The mission of the Schoolcraft College International Institute (SCII) is to coordinate cross-cultural learning opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the community.

The Institute strives to enhance the international content of coursework, programs, and other Schoolcraft College activities so participants better appreciate both the diversities and commonalities among world cultures, and better understand the global forces shaping people's lives.

Focus Series
Each year a region of the world or an issue with a global effect is explored and studied through the Focus Series events, held primarily in the Winter and Fall semesters.

Multicultural Fair
This annual event, usually held in March, draws thousands of participants who enjoy food, art, dance and music performances, and other demonstrations from dozens of cultures.

GlobalEYEzers and Global Roundtables
GlobalEYEzers and Global Roundtables provide opportunities throughout the year for informal discussion of a variety of topics related to living and learning in a global society.

International Agenda
International Agenda is the official magazine of the SCII and provides a college-wide forum for the exchange of information and perspectives related to international and intercultural education. It is published twice yearly, at the beginning of Fall and Winter semesters.

Academic Opportunities

Global Endorsement
Learning about different nations and cultures and their interconnections is an important part of education in the 21st century. Schoolcraft College students can demonstrate such proficiency by earning a Global Endorsement as part of their degree by completing a minimum of 15 credit hours of classes designated as International.

Writing and Art Scholarship Contests
The International Agenda sponsors a writing and art contest for scholarship prizes twice a year, in the Fall and Winter semesters. Entries are due near the end of each semester and many winners are featured in the following semester's edition of the International Agenda
